Men’s Tennis Set To Take The Stage At The NCAA Tournament

BRISTOL, R.I. – Fresh off winning the 2021 CCC Championship, the Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team are ready to begin play in the NCAA Tournament against Grove City College.

For The Hawks
Roger Williams enters the NCAA Tournament unblemished with a 10-0 record after defeating downing second-seeded Wentworth 5-1 in the CCC Championship. The win for the Hawks gave them their first Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship in program history and their first since 2011.

Thursday's match against Grove City will be the first-ever matchup between the two schools. The Hawks look to clinch their second NCAA Tournament win in program history. Back in 2011, the Hawks faced off against UMass-Dartmouth in the opening round of the tournament and came away with a 5-1 win.

The Hawks will once again be led by sophomore Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) and junior Dan Tocco (East Quogue, N.Y.), who are both perfect in singles play with identical 10-0 records with Trevethan at the #1 flight and Tocco at #2. At #1 doubles, the duo play together and have put together a 10-0 record.

For The Wolverines
Grove City enters the tournament with an 8-2 record and received an automatic berth to the tournament by winning the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament against Franciscan 5-0 this past Saturday in the PAC Championship. This will be the Wolverines' seventh all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament after having previously qualified each season from 2011 to 2016.

The Wolverines will be led by freshman player Jack Booker (Indianapolis, Ind.), who was selected as 2021 PAC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. In addition to Booker, seven additional Grove City players were selected to the All-PAC team.

Looking Forward
The Grove City-Roger Williams winner will play Brandeis in the second round Saturday.
