ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team logged a second-place finish at the 2021 ICSA Team Racing National Championship, the team's first national championship appearance since 2018.
 
Hawk Highlights
Roger Williams began the championship in stellar fashion, rolling off a 5-0 record in the first round robin of FJs, clinching wins over St. Mary's, Tulane, Kings Point, Charleston, and Tufts. Moving on to 420s, Roger Williams maintained their momentum, collecting five more wins over Charleston, Tufts, Boston College, Jacksonville, and Brown. However, the Hawks would falter a bit in the final opening round robin in 420s, going 2-3 in their five races. Despite the minor setback, Roger Williams' 12-3 record after the first day of racing put the Hawks in a strong position, qualifying for the Gold 6 round.
 
On day two, Roger Williams posted a 4-1 record in the Gold 6 round robin. RWU began the day with a win over Georgetown before falling to Navy. The Hawks would then wrap up the round robin with victories over Stanford, Charleston, and Brown to earn a spot in the Final 4 with Navy, Charleston, and Georgetown. In the Final 4, RWU went 2-1 with wins over Navy and Georgetown, yet Navy would claim the overall championship with 17 wins over the two days to Roger Williams' 14 victories.
