NORFOLK, Va. – Mathieu Dale (Christiansted, Va.) sailed to an eighth-place finish at the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open Singlehanded National Championship.
 
The sophomore sailed to a seventh and third place finish in his opening races of the day, before landing 13^th and eighth in his next two races. A pair of 11^th place finishes had Dale sitting in seventh place after the first sixth races.
 
Dale then used a fourth and seventh place finish to move into the top five with 64 total points on the day. A tough second day of sailing, pushed Dale back into the middle of the pack before eventually landing in eighth after finishing with a first-place finish in the final race of the regatta.
 
This will close out the fall for the Roger Williams sailing team, who will return to competition in the spring semester.
