PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Wrestling team placed two wrestlers in the top-four at the Futures Tournament hosted by Johnson & Wales University at the Wildcat Center on Sunday.
William Ogbebor (Foxboro, Mass.) took the third spot for the Hawks while
Ari Dinerman (Ashland, Mass.) took fourth.
The tournament is intended for the non-starters of all the teams in the region and the Hawks performed well coming in fourth with a team score of 78 and finishing behind just Castleton, JWU, and Springfield.
Ogbebor did drop his first match of the day, but dominated the consolation bracket picking up four wins, three of which were by first-period pin, and the fourth on a 2-0 decision on his way to third place.
Dinerman also lost his opening match of the tournament but rebounded well with wins by major decision, and a second-period pin before falling in the consolation finals.
While on this day, the placings did not extend far enough, Roger Williams would have put four other wresters in the top-six if they had the chance.
Michael Roe-Deters (Woodstock, Ga.) at 125,
Tommy Gallagher (Foxborough, Mass.) at 141, and both
Ryan Grebe (Sound Beach, N.Y.) and
Anthony Ostrander (River Vale, N.J.) at 165.
