Men’s Golf: Hawks Take Home First CCC Title Since 2002, Punch Ticket to Vegas

GRAFTON, Mass. – On a cloudy fall day at Highfields Golf & Country Club, the Roger Williams University men's golf team held on to win their first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title since 2002.

The Hawks as a team shot 301 (+13) on the day, two strokes more than the 299 (+11) from Thursday's round, totaling 600 (+24) on the tournament. The Hawks held on to beat Endicott, who finished six strokes behind, shooting 606 (+30) for the tournament.

Trevor Hada (Los Angeles, Calif.) was the lowest scorer for the Hawks in round two, rebounding from an opening round of 82 (+10). Hada shot 71 on the day, with six birdies on the course, including the 18th hole, to go under par for the round.

Freshman Ryan Dacey (East Greenwich, R.I.) finished second overall, after posting a 72 (E) round following a day when he shot a 71 (-1). Dacey hit a 39 (+3) on the front nine, but then went on to go (-3) on the back, hitting four birdies during the stretch.

Will Lafrance went six over par for the round with a 78, posting a birdie during his round with five bogeys and a double bogey. Sammy Johnson (West Springfield, Mass.) went eight over par for the round, shooting two over on the back, finishing with an 80.

Cal Tryder (Wakefield, Mass.) rounded out his day with an 86 (+14) as the highest scorer for Roger Williams.

Roger Williams with the win clinched the CCC automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Championships in Las Vegas in May. This concludes the fall portion of the Hawks' season.
