HEBRON, Conn. — Reid Ohanesian (Shirley, Mass.) fired a 69 (-3) to stand second individually as the Roger Williams University men's golf team opened the 2026 Conference of New England Championship on Saturday at Blackledge Country Club's Gilead Highlands course.

The Hawks posted a 296 (+8) on the par-72, 6,537-yard course, placing second in the nine-team field, three strokes behind Hartford's 293 (+5). Western New England followed in third with a 298 (+10).

Ohanesian recorded four birdies and 13 pars, playing a bogey-free front nine in 33 (-3). He birdied three consecutive holes on Nos. 5, 6 and 7 before adding a birdie on the 18th to finish the back nine at even par.

Chris Locke (Marblehead, Mass.) and Max St. Aubin (Brewster, Mass.) tied for 11th with matching rounds of 75 (+3). Locke registered birdies on the par-4 sixth and par-3 11th, shooting an even-par 36 on the back nine. He closed his round with seven consecutive pars.

St. Aubin also birdied the sixth hole, finishing the front nine in 37 (+1) before recording a 38 (+2) on the back. He totaled 14 pars during his round.

Sammy Johnson (West Springfield, Mass.) rounded out the Hawks' scoring four with a 77 (+5), tying for 16th. Johnson opened with a birdie on the par-4 first hole and shot a 37 (+1) on the front nine.

Josh Peterson (Goffstown, N.H.) finished the opening round in 42nd with an 89 (+17), highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 11th.

Roger Williams enters the final round within three strokes of the team lead, with four golfers among the top 16.
