BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University wrestling team saw two wrestlers finish fourth place, and one finish third at the Scott Viera Open in the RWU Field House Saturday.
Cole Shaughnessy (Fairfield, Conn.) was the top finisher placing third in the event. Shaughnessy started the day with a 2-0 victory by decision in his opening match at 184-pounds, before following with a major decision victory against Johnson & Wales' Louis Paradiso. After a technical fall win, by a score of 16-0, Shaughessy finished third.
At 125-pounds,
Ari Dinerman (Ashland, Mass.) finished just outside of the top three, going 4-2 in his matches. Dinerman scored an opening round victory, 14-7, before facing Tanner Thatcher and falling in the bout. Dinerman rebounded with a pair of victories, one by pinfall, before falling in the third-place match.
Finishing in fourth at 133-pounds was
Christopher Tringali (Chester, N.J.)
. Tringali dropped his opening match before rebounding for a 17-1 victory by technical fall. The 133-pounder then fell in the thrird place bout, 2-0, by decision.
Roger Williams will be off until Saturday, Jan. 6 when they take part in the Williams Open hosted by the Ephs. The Hawks will then have dual meets against WPI and Trinity on Saturday, Jan. 13 at Johnson & Wales.
