WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Roger Williams University Wrestling team finished sixth overall at the Ned McGinley Invitational hosted by King's on Saturday.

The Hawks saw Spencer Fetrow (Holliston, Mass.) finish second at 197-pounds, with Matt Castillo (Port Washington, N.Y.) and Matt Lucas (Danbury, Conn.) finishing fourth at 141-pounds and 165-pounds respectively. Jayden Toppan placed sixth at 285-pounds.

Fetrow opened his day with a win over Quincy Boville, by tech fall, 17-2. Fetrow then earned his second win of the season, and first of the year by pinfall, with a pin in 2:29. Another tech fall victory over Luke Dupont at 197 pounds, led to Fetrow earning his fourth straight win to open the season with a semifinals win 17-2, by tech fall. In his final match of the day, the top two seeds met, but Fetrow eventually fell 7-2 by decision.

At 141 pounds, Castillo took down his opening opponent, 6-4. A pinfall victory over Corey Haney of Merchant Marine, then put him into the semifinals, where he would fall in an 11-8 decision to the second seeded Hunter Swedish of Washington & Jefferson. Castillo then dropped his final bout to Nick Kruczynski.

Lucas opened his day with a tech fall win as the top seed in the tournament, 17-2, but then followed with a pinfall win over Mitchell Sutter in 41 seconds. A major decision win, 11-2, set up Lucas for a semifinals matchup with Arvin Khosravy, who defeated him, before Lucas Dropped his match in the third place match by a tight 5-3 decision.

A first-year, Toppan battled his way to a 2-2 record on the day droping his opening match before recovering for his second match of the day for an 8-4 decision.  Toppan earned a major decision victory before falling in his final match 16-1, by tech fall to round out the day.

Roger Williams will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 9:00 am at the RWU Invitational.  The Hawks will then travel to Williams for their first Dual Meet of the season on Saturday, Nov. 16.
