BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's rugby team saw three players named National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) Division II All-Americans as announced by the organization.
Listed were
Danielle Vogt (Warwick, N.Y.),
Emma Wright (Manchester, N.H.), and
Natalia Comiskey (Clinton, Conn.). The Hawks finished the season ranked sixth in the country in 15s and had three out of the 23 All-Americans named.
Wright finished the season with three tries, serving as an invaluable leader for the Hawks on offense and defense. Wright split time between prop and in the eight positions. "She put her body on the line every game to draw the defense in before offloading to her teammates," said Head Coach
Caitlin Mallahan. "She is an extremely smart and composed player on the pitch as well as a facilitator on the field."
Comiskey finished the season with 15 tries and a pair of conversions for a total of 79 points. The sophomore also had a pair of crucial try-saving tackles playing primarily the win and fullback positions. Comisky had six tries in the Hawks postseason playoff run in their match against the University of New Hampshire and two against Coast Guard.
Playing the inside center positions, Vogt posted a strong defensive season, along with helping with execution on the offensive end. Vogt stood out for the Hawks this season with defensive tackles, and scored three tries in three separate games.
Roger Williams closed out the season with a 6-2 record in 15s play reaching the NCR National Quarterfinals and ranking
