BOSTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University women's rugby team opened their 7s season on Sunday, with the A-Side winning all three of their matches and B-Side going 2-1 in their three matches at the Northeastern 7s Tournament.
The Hawks A-Side squad, picked up wins over UMass, 24-5, Endicott, 19-5, and Northeastern, 45-0.
Danielle Vogt (Warwick, N.Y.) and
Skyler Kelemen (Stratford, Conn.) played strong defense and added pressure in rucks.
Sarah Gray (Freeport, Maine) led the way wth 30 points, coming off a total of four tries and five conversions.
Emma Wright (Manchester, N.H.) added a hat trick against Northeastern.
The Hawks b-side squad was led by strong defense from
Maddison Edwards (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and
Monica Coughlan produced a strong run to secure a score for the Hawks.
Roger Williams (3-0) will return to competition on Saturday, Mar. 16 at Brown in a round robin against Northeastern and the hosts.
