LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Roger Williams University wrestling team saw the season officially come to a close as
Jayden Curley (Mansfield, Mass.) competed at NCAA Division III National Championships on Friday.
Curley opened against the No. 2 seeded Zane Mulder of Wartburg. Mulder opened with a takedown 1:26 into the match, with Curley quickly escaping quickly. Mulder had another take down to take a 6-1 lead. In the second period Mulder was able to earn three more points before earning a pin, 1:37 into the second period.
Curley then lost his second match 10-6, to Khalil Mitchell of Averett. Mitchell earned three points with a take down 1:22 into the match, with Curley picking up his lone point of the first frame with an escape. After a scoreless second period, Curley earned five points in period three, but a takedown and near fall added seven points, taking a 10-6 victory.
Curley finishes his season with a 22-8 record in matches, being the 44
th wrestler in Roger Williams History to qualify and 29
th individual to make an appearance.
