Portsmouth, R.I.—The Roger Williams Men's Track & Field team came out on top at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship for the second time in a row. The Championship was hosted by the Hawks at Portsmouth High School.
Trey Generali (Middlebury, Conn.) finished first in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 9:30.64 and setting a school record. Nathan Evans (Lincoln, R.I..), the other Roger Williams runner in the event finished in 9:45.54 to take third place.
In the 400m Hurdles, Griffin Herbert (Scarborough, M.A.) came in first at 57.30, qualifying him for New England Championship. Sean Donovan (Glastonbury, Conn.) took third in the event, followed by Sean O'Obrien (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) in fifth place, respectively.
In the 5K race, sophomore Nathan Tassey (Whitman, Mass.) came in first place, finishing the event in 14:43.35 to set a Roger Williams record at the meet. The five other Hawks to set personal records in the 5K were Alexander Kalber(Middletown, Conn.), Ryan Cotugno (Melrose, Mass.), Adam Horwitz (Winchester, Mass.), Colin Czuchra (Oxford, Conn.), Colby Winn (North Andover, Mass.), and Sean Bonefant (Topsfield, Conn.).
Andy Oren (Bristol, R.I.) set a personal record finishing in second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.54. Oren also raced in the 200-Meter Dash placing in third. Teammate Donovan Dunning in the 100-meter took third place, respectively.
In the 400-meter dash, Jack Bielawa (Portsmouth, R.I.) placed first with a personal best time of 50.94 while Burke Mattey came in second with a time of 51.16.
Roger Williams' runners finished in the top ten in the 110m Hurdles. Herbert was the first of the Hawks to complete the race in second, setting a personal record at 16.17. O'Brien came in just behind him, in third place, for a personal record of his own.
The Hawks teams took first place in the 4x100 meter relay, setting another school record at the meet. The Hawks then took second in the 4x400 relay, with Donovan, Deluca, Oren, and Ward competing in the 4x100 Relay and Jack Bielawa (Portsmouth, R.I.), Mattey, and Will Tainter-Gilbert (Sandy Hook, Conn.), and Dylan Beggins in the 4x400 Relay.
In the High Jump, Adam Lacroix (Bedford, N.H.) finished on top, going 1.66m. Ronald Nolin landed eighth place at 1.77m.
In the Pole Vault, Steven Nostro (New City, N.Y..) took home first place for the Hawks.
Sam Bielawa (Portsmouth, R.I.) took home first place in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.65m. He took first place in the Triple Jump, qualifying for New Englands at 13.98m.
Personal records were also set in the Shot Put and the Discus Throw. Adam Goralski (Southington, Conn.) recorded a distance of 10.43m in the Shot Put. Suderman went 44.95m in the Discus Throw.
On Friday afternoon two Hawks finished well in the hammer throw, Napoleon Suderman (Winchester, M.A.) took first setting a new Roger Williams' school record. Goralski finished fifth.
This closes out the regular season for Roger Williams. The Hawks will be back in action May 4- May 6 for the New England Championship at Springfield.
