MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Nathan Tassey (Whitman, Mass.) earned All-American Honors for the second time in the 2023-24 calendar year finishing fourth at the NCAA Division III National Championships hosted at Doug Shaw Stadium.
Tassey finished with a time of 14:17.51 finishing fourth in the field, behind Christion Patzka of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Christopher Collet of Wartburg (14:14.73), and Chasen Hunt of Lynchburg, (14:15.51).
Tassey opened the race with a 1:43.59 time in the opening 600 meters, finishing 18
th over the stretch. Tassey rebounded with a time of 2:51.05 time through the opening 1000, finishing the first 1,000m in 11 place.
Sitting in 14
th after 2,600m Tassey again jumped up five spots at the 3,000m mark, finishing the stretch in 1:10.54. Tassey again improved with a tiem of 1:10.84 over the next 400m, before picking up another two spots finishing with 11:01.92 over the first 3800m.
After dropping three spots over the next two laps, Tassey regained the spots with a time of 1:02.18 over the final 400m to retake the three lost spots to close out the race bwi.
Tassey closes the season as the first Roger Williams men's track and field All-American in program history, after earning the same honors in men's cross country.
