CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Roger Williams University sailing team closed out the 2023-24 campaign on Monday at the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open Fleet Racing finals, finishing 11
th.
The Hawks tallied 361 points over the 36 race regatta, compiling 181 in division A, while adding 180 in division B. Harvard took the national title with 227 points followed by Yale with 235.
Aidan Hoogland and
Michaela O'Donnell finished with 181 points in division A. After the opening 10 races on day one, the Hawks added 13 points in their first race in division A. They followed with a second-place finish in the division, while then finishing in the second half of the field for the following three races. The Hawks earned a fifth-place finish in race 16 before rounding out their day with a 14
th and 17
th place finish.
In division B,
Carlos Bermudez de Castro and
Kyle Pfrang skippered the Hawks with
Carly Kiss and
Claire Buckley as the crew. Roger Williams opened the day with a 10
th place finish in race 11, while finishing in 15
th in race 12. The Hawks finished inside the top 10 in races 15 and 16.
Roger Williams closes their season after winning their first Open Team Racing title since 2011.
