BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – The Roger Williams University men's golf team placed first at the Gillette Ridge Invitational hosted by the University of Hartford, leading the 10-team field in their season-opening tournament.
The Hawks posted a final score of +28, finishing +21 on Sunday's round after posting a final score of +7 in the first round. Roger Williams finished 11 strokes ahead of the hosts who carded a 39 through two days of competition.
Ryan Dacey (East Greenwich, R.I.) placed first after shooting -3 in the opening round, the Hawks' top golfer carded a +3 on Sunday's round, finishing level to par.
Will Lafrance (Westport, Mass.) also carded a +3 on the day, finishing +4 for the tournament and finishing fourth individually.
Josh Peterson (Goffstown, N.H.) posed a +11 over two days, earning a +9 second round and finishing 10
th in the field, while
Sammy Johnson (West Springfield, Mass.) carded a +6 for round two, securing +16 for the tournament, while
Cal Tryder (Wakefield, Mass.) carded +17 for the event, shooting +10 for the round.
Roger Williams will take part in the Bowdoin Invitational beginning on Saturday, Sept. 28 for the opening round.
