BREWSTER, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Golf team sits tied for sixth after the opening round of the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships at The Captains Golf Course.

The Hawks carded a team score of 309 (+21) on Saturday, finishing even with Salem State. Hartford leads the field at 299 (+11), followed by Western New England in second at 301 (+13) and Endicott in third at 304 (+16).

Junior Sammy Johnson (West Springfield, Mass.) led the way for Roger Williams with a 74 (+2), placing him tied for sixth overall. Ryan Dacey (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Will Lafrance (Westport, Mass.) each recorded rounds of 78 (+6) to sit tied for 31st. Josh Peterson (Goffstown, N.H.) followed with a 79 (+7), while senior Will Reece (Charlton, Mass.) rounded out the Hawks' scoring with an 85 (+13).

Roger Williams will return to the course on Sunday, Oct. 19, for the final round of the NEIGA Championships.
