WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Cross Country team earned a sixth-place finish at the James Earley Invitational on Saturday, tallying 163 points — just one point shy of a top-five team placement.
Leading the charge for Roger Williams was Ryan Cotugno (Melrose, Mass.), who paced the team with a time of 26:54.5. Joshua Soucy (Manchester, N.H.) was next across the line in 27:24.1, followed by Gabriel Huff (Ledyard, Conn.) in 28:25.3 and Andrew Frenette (Dighton, Mass.) in 28:35.5.
Vedanth Penumatsa rounded out the scoring five, clocking a personal-best 28:44.2. Two more Hawks — Dylan Hovey (Old Lyme, Conn.) and Colin Marsanico (Floral Park, N.Y.) — also notched personal records, finishing in 29:21.2 and 30:08.1, respectively.
Additional strong performances came from Oliver Polster (Wakefield, Mass.), who posted a 29:30.4, Sean Rowland (Riverhead, N.Y.) at 29:55.5, and Colby Winn (North Andover, Mass.) in 30:55.3.
Roger Williams will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 1, in the CNE Championship.
