Women's Golf: Hawks Compete in Inaugural CNE Championship

WINDSOR, Conn. - The Roger Williams University women's golf team took part in history over the weekend, competing in the first-ever Conference of New England (CNE) Women's Golf Championship, hosted October 11–12.

Despite being disqualified from the team standings due to an incomplete scoring roster, the Hawks' individual performances highlighted the continued growth of the program in its inaugural championship appearance.

Leading the way for RWU was McKenna Marcoux (Bethel, Conn.), who finished 19th overall with a two-round total of +65 (109 (+37) on Day One, followed by a 100 (+28) on Day Two). Grace Tarro (Barrington, R.I.) followed in 26th at +93 (113 (+41), 52-over 124), rounding out the Hawks' two countable rounds for the event.

Also competing for Roger Williams were Mazie Collins (Lake George, N.Y.), Lindsey Kotsopoulos (Shrewsbury, Mass.), and Emily Soter (Spencer, Mass.).

The event marked the first official conference championship for women's golf under the CNE banner, featuring teams from Suffolk, Hartford, Nichols, Gordon, and the University of New England. U. New England's Abby Flanagan took the individual title defeating Amanda Forziati and Krisna Mahendran tied for the top spot, with Flanigan coming out of the second three-way playoff for the win.

Suffolk was named the team champion finishing with a 695 (+135) over the two days.
