BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Roger Williams University Men's Cross Country team finished 33rd at the Paul Short Invitational, as senior Nathan Tassey (Whitman, Mass.) made his season debut, finishing second.
As a team the Hawks averaged a time of 26:35.1 with a spread of 3:06.3 for the meet.
Tassey finished second in the meet, while the Hawks compiled 948 points on the day, finishing ahead of Grove City but behind Hamilton for 32nd. For the Hawks, Tassey paced the Hawks, finishing in a time of 24:18.2. Tassey finished 13.3 seconds behind Will Shuflit of Colorado College.
The Hawks then saw Justin Dickson (Londonderry, N.H.) cross the line in 26:43.5. Kyle Tarpy (Haverhill, Mass.) was the third RWU runner to finish, placing 277th, while posting a 27:11.4 time, setting a new personal best in the 8K, resetting his previous career best mark by over 20 seconds.
Ryan Cotugno (Melrose, Mass.) and Colin Czuchra (Oxford, Conn.) rounded out the top five runners for RWU, finishing in 27:17.8 and 27:24.5, respectively. Nathan Evans (Lincoln, R.I.) and Cole Walker (Cumberland, R.I.) rounded out the top seven for Roger Williams, posting times of 27:26.9 and 27:43.9 in order. Walker's time beat his time from the UMass Dartmouth Invitational by 15.5 seconds.
Rounding out the rest of the field for RWU was Tate Midora (Marlton, N.J.), who ran his race in 27:48.2, Joshua Soucy (Manchester, N.H.), finishing in 27:54.0, and Harrison Krause (Glastonbury, Conn.), who posted a 28:03.6 time.
Roger Williams will next take the course on Friday, Oct. 11 at the James Early Invitational hosted by Westfield State. The Hawks will then break until Saturday, Nov. 1 when they run at the Conference of New England (CNE) Championship.
