BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Ice Hockey team is set to start its inaugural NCAA Season on Friday evening in Driscoll Arena against UMass Dartmouth.
The Hawks enter their first season under Head Coach Chris Hall, who, in his previous stop, was an assistant coach at Babson. The Hawks' return to varsity status marks the first time since the 1990s that the institution has sponsored a program at the Varsity level. Joining Hall on staff is Tom McCarthy, Matt Fawcett, and Adam Mercer.
The Hawks will bring in 33 players on the roster, with four having prior NCAA-level experience. It also includes players from 18 states and four countries, while consisting of seven non-NCAA leagues.
The Hawks will play 25 contests on the season, with 12 games being hosted at Driscoll. Additionally, 20 of the contests will be within the Conference of New England (CNE) play, a conference that saw Curry and the University of New England receive bids into the tournament.
In this season's preseason poll, Curry is ranked fourth by USCHO, while UNE sits ninth. The Hawks also will see Endicott, who is ranked 14th ahead of the campaign.
The Hawks campaign begins on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 pm against the Corsairs.
