BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Wrestling team is set to open its 2025-26 season on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Monarch Invitational hosted by King's in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
The Hawks enter the season after posting a 16-9 record in duals in 2024-25. The Hawks finished 11th in the NEWA Dual Championships, while placing seventh in the region at the NCAA Division III Regional Championships.
Head Coach Jon Egan '05 enters the season with a 221-68 record with the Hawks since taking over in the 2011 campaign, where he was co-head coach with David Kemmy. Under his leadership, the Hawks have totaled five All-Americans.
RWU captain, Shaun McLaughlin returns after an eighth-place finish at 133 pounds, earning key points for the Hawks at regionals, while earning All-Region honors. The Hawks also return Jayden Toppan, who finished the season with a 29-11 record.
After the Monarch Invitational, the Hawks will host the RWU Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 9:00 pm in the RWU Field House. The Hawks will then travel to Williams for their first Duals of the season, taking on the hosts, Utica, and Bridgeport.
After rounding out the fall semester with the Scott Viera Open on Saturday, Dec. 13, the Hawks will open the New Year with a pair of Saturday, Jan. 3 duals vs. New England College and King's in Bristol.
This season's NEWA Dual Championships will take place at Johnson & Wales on Sunday, Jan. 25, with the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championships taking place on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 10:00 am.
