Wrestling: Castillo and McLaughlin Named Captains for 2025-26 Season

BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams University Head Wrestling Coach Jon Egan has named Matt Castillo (Port Washington, N.Y.) and Shaun McLaughlin (Natick, Mass.) as captains for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign.

"I'm proud to name Matt and Shaun as captains of our team," said Egan. "Their leadership dedication and relentless work ethic set the standard for our program, and I trust them to guide our team this season."

"I am super excited for this upcoming season," said Castillo. "The energy in practice has been phenomenal. Everyone is working hard and has been improving every day. We have a lot of returning starters, and a strong freshman class that is ready to help us make some noise."

Castillo is a senior Construction Management major. While McLaughlin is entering his junior campaign, he is a Secondary Education major with a focus in mathematics.

"It is awesome to be back and see how dedicated everyone has been. We are constantly getting better, and I can't wait to see the hard work pay off," said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin was an All-Region honoree in the 2024-25 season at 133 pounds.

Roger Williams will open their season officially at the Monarch Invitational hosted by King's in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 9:00 AM.  The Hawks will host the Frank Antonawich Intrasquad Duals on Saturday, Oct. 18, during Homecoming & Family Weekend.
