SAINT MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team took the top spot at the St. Mary's College Team Race over the weekend, while also placing third at the Bob Bavier Open Team Race.
At St. Mary's, the Hawks posted a record of 16-3 on the weekend, finishing in the top spot ahead of Yale, who posted a 13-6 record. The Hawks' skippers were

Mathieu Dale,
Kyle Pfrang, and
Carlos Bermudez de Castro. While crew were
Addyson Fisher,
Claire Buckley,
Carly Kiss, and
Jed Lory.
In the first round, Roger Williams posted wins in each of their seven races, recording a first and second-place finish, while Navy was the lone race to have the Hawks not cross the finish line first. Round two saw RWU go 5-2, tying for the round with Yale, while Boston College had a 6-1 record in round two. In the Championship 6 round, the Hawks posted four pins, as they secured the top spot in the regatta.
At the Bob Bavier, Roger Williams went 14-7, ahead of Coast Guard, while finishing behind Stanford (18-3) and Charleston (16-5). Skippers for the Hawks were

Tristan McDonald, and they partnered with crew,

The Hawks opened the regatta by going 8-1 in the opening round, falling to Stanford in the opening round of the matchup. The Hawks finished 1-2 in the seven wins while finishing 3-4-5 in their lone loss. Stanford, Miami, and Stanford, all sat at 7-2 through the opening round.
The Hawks went 5-4 in the second round robin of the regatta, finishing with wins over Eckerd, Miami, Navy, NC State, and South Florida. The Hawks losses came to Coast Guard, Chaleston, Jacksonville, and Stanford.
In the final round, with Stanford, Caleston, and Coast Guard still sailing, the Hawks defeated Coast Guard while Charleston and Stanford defeated the Hawks, with Stanford finishing the final round 3-0.
Roger Williams will return to competition on Saturday, Mar. 15.
