MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Wrestling team finished the NCAA Division III Regional finishing in seventh overall. Johnson & Wales took the top spot with 192.5 points, while Coast Guard and Castleton finished second and third with 155 and 151.5 points respectively.
 
The Hawks totaled 62.5 points on the weekend as they edged out Southern Maine, while Springfield finished sixth with 66.5 points.
 
At 157 pounds, Matt Lucas placed fourth in the weight class, the highest finish for an RWU competitor. Lucas, tallied the team 13 points, while posting a 1-2 record on day two, as he finished just outside of an NCAA Championship birth.
 
Jayden Curley tallied points for Roger Williams, posting a fifth place finish after going 4-2 on the weekend. Curley earned a wjn in his opening match, before falling in the consolation semifinals. In the fifth place match, Curley earned a 3-0 win by decision.
 
At 197 pounds, Spencer Fetrow also earned a spot in the fifth place match, before eventually falling in the match. Michael Forte also earned a spot on the podium, as he finished eight overall, placing for the Hawks and earning 6.5 points for the team.
 
Christolpher Tringali placed sixth in the field totaling 7.5 points for the team, while earning a 1-2 record, finishing 3-3 on the weekend. Tringali's fifth place match, went 5-4 in favor of Tanner Thatcher of WPI. Shaun McLaughlin also added points for the Hawks as he finished in eighth overall with a 1-2 day. McLaughlin had a win over Springfield's Jaden Colwell, before falling by decision in his final two matches.
 
This concludes the season for the RWU Wrestling team, who compiled 16 dual wins on the season.
