BOSTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team placed second at the Marchiando Trophy at MIT, while also finishing Second at the Jumbo Team Race.
At MIT, Roger Williams sailed to a 15-6 finish, with Boston College placing first with an18-3 weekend. The Hawks saw skippers,

Claire Buckley,
Ruby Hope, and
Addyson Fisher.
The Hawks opened their first round robin, going 4-3. The Hawks took 1-2 finishes in their four wins over Bowdoin, MIT, URI, and Tulane, but fell to Boston College, Stanford and Tufts. In the second round robin, the Hawks went 5-2 with their loses coming to Tufts and Boston College, while picking up a win over Stanford.
The Hawks posted a 6-1 record in the final round robin, with the lone loss coming to Stanford, but were unable to overtake Boston College.
At the Jumbo Team Race, the Hawks went 15-5 finishing behind only Brown at 17-3. The Hawks had six different skippers on the regatta with
Drew Mastovsky, Connor McHugh, Jack Roman, Tavia Smith, Tristan McDonald, and
Jed Lory. The Hawks saw crews,
Maren Matthews, Dawson Chambers-Tartaglino, Elyssa Franklin, Jancy Grayson, Ethan Snyder, Frankie Sparrow, Ethan Martin, and
Dominique Spinola.
In the opening round of the regatta, the Hawks sailed to a 6-1 finish, falling only to Brown, before sailing to another 6-1 round, falling to Brown. Sailing in the top four, Roger Williams opened with a 1-2 record their first time through, ahead of picking up wins over Tufts and Coast Guard in the second top-four round robin.
Roger Williams finished fifth at the Vietor Trophy, compiling 149 points, in the two-division regatta. In division A,
Jack Crager and
Caroline Felser finished sixth, compiling 76 points, two points behind Florida State with 74. Tufts took the top spot with 50. Crager and Felser sailed to a pair of fifth-place finishes to open the day, ahead of placing first in race three. Sitting with 34 points total heading into the third race, the Hawks then finished second, fourth, and first in their next three race. The Hawks finished the division A races with a pair of ninth-place finishes, followed by a seventh-place finish before closing out their races in 10
th.
The Division B team of
Jakub Fuja and
Lexi Chigas totaled 73 points, finishing sixth, nine points behind Coast Guard for fifth. After not being able to break into the top five in their first five races, Fuja and Chigas sailed t a pair of second place finishes in races six and seven. With a pair of seventh place finishes in races eight and nine, the duo then placed inside the top five in their next three races, including a win in race 12, ahead of closing out the day in ninth in the final race.
In the final regatta of the week, hosted by RWU, the Hawks saw a boat place first and fourth. The division A team of McHugh and Chambers-Tartaglino swept their races, placing first in each of the six, while their Division B counterparts of Lory and Martin earned five first-place finishes with a second-place finish in the final race, to secure the win with 13 points.

Demetry Spinola sail to 17 points in Division A earning five third-place finishes with a second-place finish in race four.

Mackenzie Speece tallied 29 total points.
