PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team competed at three regattas this weekend, placing eighth at the Legler Trophy and Thompson Trophy while earning a 5
th place finish at the Oberg Trophy.
At the NEISA Women's Team Race Championships, the Legler Trophy, the Hawks placed eighth in the 10-team field. The Hawks' squad of skippers

Tavia Smith sailed alongside of crews
Maren Matthews,
Elyssa Franklin,
Jancy Grayson, and
Lexi Chigas. The Hawks sailed to a 3-6 record for their races.
In their race against Bowdoin, the Hawks took a 1-2-5 finish before taking a 1-3-6 win over Coast Guard. The Hawks' third win came with a 1-4-5 victory over Tufts.
At the Thompson Trophy hosted by Coast Guard, the Hawks finished in eighth, closing with a 5-16 record in their competitions. The Hawks saw skippers

In the opening round, the Hawks' wins came against the host Bears, and the University of Rhode Island. The Hawks added three wins in the second round, coming against Boston College, Tulane, and Tufts. The final round of sailing saw the Hawks without a head to head win over an opponent.
Rounding out the final regatta of the weekend, the Hawks placed fifth at the Oberg Trophy, compiling a three-division score of 126, finishing behind Brown, Boston College, Tufts and Coast Guard.
In division A,
Connor McHugh and
Dawson Chambers-Tartaglino finished second, tallying 27 total points, placing second in the division. The duo had a pair of race wins while finishing in the top five in five of the six races.
Division B had
Jack Crager and
Caroline Felser as they tallied 50 points to place eighth out of the 17 teams. The team placed fifth in their final race while earning a sixth-place finish in the team's third and fifth races.
Jakub Fuja and
Dominique Spinola totaled 49 points in their eighth-place finish in Division C as the team compiled five finishes in the top 10.
