BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Soccer team is set to open its 2025 campaign, marking the second year under head coach
Katy LaBella. After a strong 2024 season that saw the Hawks finish 9-5-6 overall and advance to the Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament.
The Hawks return a strong group of veteran leaders and all-conference performers, positioning the team for continued growth in LaBella's second season at the helm. Assistant coach
Maisie Jelley also returns to the sidelines.
Leading the charge offensively is
Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield, Mass.), who ranked among the CNE leaders in goals and game-winners last fall. Defensively, the Hawks are anchored by
Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.), who posted a goals-against average under 1.00 in league play, and
Sarah Newman (Sayville, N.Y.), an All-CNE honoree who provides leadership and stability along the back line.
Complementing the experienced returners the Hawks bring in 11 newcomers who bring versatility across the field. LaBella and her staff are confident that the incoming class, paired with the established veterans, will provide the Hawks with the depth needed to navigate the demanding CNE slate.
Roger Williams begins the season with a home exhibition against Babson on Tuesday, Aug. 26, before officially opening regular season play at Bayside Field against Salve Regina on Saturday, Aug. 30. The Hawks will also face early conference tests, including a matchup with Endicott on Sept. 6.
The 18-game schedule features ten CNE contests, highlighted by crucial Oct. home matches against Worcester State and Suffolk, with the Suffolk game serving as Senior Day. RWU will close the regular season on Oct. 28 at Bayside Field against Wentworth.
The Hawks will once again set their sights on the CNE Tournament, which kicks off Saturday, Nov. 1 with quarterfinal action. The semifinals follow on Nov. 5, with the championship match slated for Saturday, Nov. 8.
