TIVERTON, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Equestrian team finished their regular season with a fourth-place finish on Saturday at Sunflower Meadows Equestrian, at a show hosted by Johnson and Wales University.
The Hawks earned 20 points to take fourth, with the High Point Champion honors being split between Brown and URI, each with 33 points. Salve Regina earned Reserve High Point Team honors with 27 points. Holy Cross took fifth and Rhode Island College took sixth.
In the Open Equitation on the Flat, Alexandra Macdonald (Norwood, Mass.) earned a fourth-place finish, while also competing in the Intermediate Equitation over Fences, where she earned first place in section B. Lindsey Savoie (Tolland, Conn.) earned fourth place in section B, while Mila Weilbaecher (Maryville, Tenn.) finished third in section A.
Weilbaecher also competed in the Intermediate Equitation on the Flat securing a second-place finish in section A, while Lily Scarth (East Setauket, N.Y.) finished fourth in section B.
Entering the Limit Equitation over Fences, Sarah Strzegowski (Westford, Mass.) placed fourth in section A.
Savoie earned a third-place finish in the Limit Equitation on the Flat in section A, while Gianna Graves (Norwich, Conn.) finished sixth in the same section. Ella Dumais (New London, N.H.) finished fifth in section B and Annika Ormsby (Devens, Mass.) earned a first-place finish in section C
In the Novice Equitation on the Flat, Grace Braga (Barrington, R.I.) placed fifth in section A.
"Our Hawks finished the regular season with a solid effort," said Head Coach Dirk Fogg. "The Hawks representing Roger Williams in the postseason are Annika Ormsby, Emma Gaeckle, Lindsey Savoie, and Alexandra Macdonald."
Those that qualified will compete next at Region 1 Zone 1 Finals at Hunter Ridge Equestrian, Ashaway, RI, on Sunday, March 22.
