ASHAWAY, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Equestrian team had four Hawks compete at Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Region 1 Zone 1 Finals at Hunter Ridge Equestrian on Sunday.
Annika Ormsby (Devens, Mass.) and Lindsey Savoie (Tolland, Conn.) will move on to the Zone 1 Finals at Mount Holyoke College on April 4, where they will compete against the top two riders in their class from each of the four regions in Zone 1.
Ormsby placed second in the Novice Equitation on the Flat, earning her a spot, while Savoie placed second in the Limit Equitation over Fences to qualify for Zone 1 Finals.
Alexandra Macdonald (Norwood, Mass.) placed third in Intermediate Equitation over Fences and placed fourth in Intermediate Equitation on the Flat. Emma Gaeckle (Southampton, N.Y.) placed fifth in the Limit Equitation on the Flat.
"Judge Zumbrun complemented the high level of skill and competitiveness at our regional finals," said Head Coach Dirk Fogg. "I am proud of the efforts from each of our individual athletes. Our two advancing Hawks will work hard over the next two weeks in preparation for the Zone 1 Finals. Individual post season play is all about punching your ticket to the next dance!"
The top two placings at Zone 1 Finals will advance to the IHSA National Championships which will be held on May 1-3, 2026, in Tryon, North Carolina.
