BRISTOL, R.I. – The New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) named the Roger Williams University Open squad as the organization's Open Sailors of the Week.
At the NEISA Open Fleet Racing Championship for the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl hosted by Brown University on Saturday, Apr. 18, RWU took third place. In Division A, the team of Carlos Bermudez de Castro (La Coruña, Spain), Kyle Pfrang (Suffolk, Va.), Addy Fisher (Charleston, S.C.), and Jed Lory (Severna Park, Md.) took first with 38 points.
The Roger Williams sailors were consistently near the front of the fleet in A-division all weekend. They finished outside the top four only once in ten races.
"On Saturday Carlos and Addy were consistently finding the best breeze and the best angle after having consistently great starts," said Head Coach Amanda Callahan. "On Sunday Kyle and Jed kept the train rolling in the two races that they sailed. Their teamwork has been great this season."
