ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Open Fleet Racing Sailing team currently sits eight after the first day of finals at the ICSA Open Fleet Racing National Championship. The Hawks hold a score of 129 through 16 races.
Brown currently leads with 100, while Stanford follows closely behind with 102. U.S. Naval Academy sits third with 120, followed by University of Pennsylvania (123), Georgetown (127), Tulane (127), and Yale (127).
On the water for RWU in Division A were Carlos Bermudez de Castro and Addy Fisher, while Kyle Pfrang was paired with Jed Lory in Division B.
Bermudez de Castro and Fisher started the day with a second-place finish before securing five more top 10 finishes including a first-place finish in the seventh race. Their strong showing produced a score of 64 in Division A at the end of day one.
Pfrang and Lory took five top 10 finishes over their eight races today, including a first-place finish in their sixth race. The duo compiled 65 points in Division B.
Roger Williams will return to action on Friday, May 22 for day two of finals competition at the ICSA Open Fleet Racing National Championship.
