ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Open Fleet Racing Sailing team is currently sitting 11th after the first day at the ICSA Open Fleet Racing Eastern Semifinals. The Hawks hold a score of 57 after day one of competition which was cut short due to inconsistent conditions and storms in the area.
Harvard currently leads with 16, followed by Dartmouth (38) and St. Mary's (42).
On the water for RWU in Division A were Carlos Bermudez de Castro paired with Addy Fisher. Kyle Pfrang was paired with Jed Lory in Division B.
Bermudez de Castro and Fisher started strong with a first-place finish in their first race, however the duo took 13th in their second and was disqualified in their third. They bounced back with a 6th place finish to end with a score of 39 in Division A before the day was cut short.
Pfrang and Lory took 7th in their first race before placing 11th in their second and final race of the day in Division B, to sit at 18.
The Hawks will be back on the water tomorrow for the final day of semifinal competition. The top nine teams will move on to the ICSA Open Fleet Racing National Championships that begin on Thursday, May 21.
