HEBRON, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Equestrian team wrapped up the fall season Saturday afternoon after tying for fourth place at the Wesleyan College Show with Brown University.

Both the Hawks and the Bears earned 26 points at the show, with the University of Rhode Island getting the win after tallying 42 points on the day.

Olivia Cornell (Rowley, Mass.) led the way for the Hawks with two of the team's five wins, earning first in both Novice Fences and Novice Flat. Margaret Hanvey (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) and Cara McSoley (Essex Junction, Vt.) each got wins for RWU in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter, while Sarah Cholewa (Griswold, Conn.) and Alicia Levy (Wantagh, N.Y.) took top place in Walk Trot and Novice Flat, respectively.

In addition to Cornell's performance, RWU had runner-up finishes in seven events. Coming away with the second-place results were Shannon O'Keefe (Glastonbury, Conn.) in Open Fences, Megan Schiel-Logvin (Trumbull, Conn.) in Novice Fences, Alyssa Schankman (Newtown, Conn.) and Amelia Stasny (Bernardston, Mass.) in Intermediate Flat, Alicia Milch (Pelham, Mass.) in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter, Miranda Downing (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) in Walk Trot, and Erin DeMarco (Florence, Vt.) in Beginner Walk-Trot-Canter.

Kayla Waskiewicz (Bristol, R.I.), Emily Pammet (Groton, Mass.), and Schankman also delivered third-place finishes at Open Flat, Beginner Walk-Trot-Canter, and Novice Fences, respectively.

Roger Williams will resume the second half of the 2008-09 season in the spring.
