Men’s Swimming & Diving picks up dual win over Clark

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Swimming and Diving team picked up a 191-96 victory over Clark University in a dual meet at Wellesley College.

The Hawks had dominant 1-2-3 finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, and 100-yard freestyle.  In the 100-yard breaststroke, the Hawks were led by sophomore Eric Thurston (Wallingford, Conn) (1:03.09) and followed by freshman Taylor Martell (Nashua, N.H.) (1:04.52), and senior Jeremy Siegel (West Deptford, N.J.) (1:06.10).  In the 200-yard breaststroke, Thurston took the lead at 2:26.23 followed by Siegel (2:29.62), and Martell (2:30.64).  The 200-yard butterfly was won by freshman Jason Spazzarini (Enfield, Conn.) with a time of 2:07.67 and followed by teammates junior Alex Hancock (Davidsonville, Md.) (2:12.08) and junior Phillip Jacques (Durham, Maine) (2:13.49).  Senior Peter Walerysiak (Bristol, Conn.) won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.63 and was followed by teammates Teddy Swanson (Glastonbury, Conn.) (50.64) and freshman Christian Moran (Seekonk, Mass.) (51.31).

Juniors Austin Kelly (Portland, Conn.) and Tim Ragan (Topsfield, Mass.) took the top two spots in the 1000-yard freestyle with times of 10:45.96 and 10:46.07.  Sophomore David DeNovellis (Chelmsford, Mass.) and senior Peter Walerysiak (Bristol, Conn.) finished with the top two times of 22.87 and 22.88 in the 50-yard Free.  The Hawks also had a 1-2 finish in the 400 Free Relay.

Senior Teddy Swanson (Glastonbury, Conn.) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.09.  In addition to his win in the 200 Fly, Spazzarini won the 500 Free in 5:15.39.  Sophomore Greg Neville (Sayville, N.Y.) won the 3-meter diving competition with 143.62 points.

The Hawks return to the pool to host Bridgewater State on Saturday, November 19.
