HAMPTON, Va. – The Roger Williams University Men's Swimming team sits sixth with 206.5 points after the second day of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship at the Hampton Aquaplex, seeing another school record fall.
James Augustin (Massapequa, N.Y.) etched his name into Roger Williams Men's Swimming history for the second time this week, after being part of the record-breaking 800-yard freestyle relay team yesterday. He finished the 50-yard freestyle with a preliminary time of 20.45 on Friday morning, before placing second in the final of the same event Friday evening with a time of 20.50.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Dylan Gourlay Mount Kisco, N.Y.was the top finisher for the Hawks, placing 12th in the preliminaries early Friday morning to swim in the finals that evening. In the finals for the 500 free, Gourlay posted a 4:41.18 finish.
In the 200-yard individual medley, several Hawks placed in the preliminaries, with Milo Stefanowicz (Point Pleasant, N.J.) being the top finisher for the Hawks in the final with a time of 1:57.04.
In the 400-yard medley relay, the Hawks finished seventh with a time of 3:25.95. The Hawks saw Thomas Brown (Katonah, N.Y.) post a 51.85 in the opening backstroke split, Luke Austin (Essex Junction, Vt.) put up a 57.33 in the breaststroke, Drew Hebert (Melrose, Mass.) went 50.66 in the butterfly, and Gourlay anchored with a time of 46.11 freestyle.
Roger Williams will continue competition in the pool on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the NJAC Championships.
