HAMPTON, Va. – The Roger Williams University Men's Swimming team concluded the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship on Sunday night, placing sixth with a total of 550.5 points. RWU placed ahead of Montclair State, Ramapo College, and William Paterson.
The College of New Jersey capture the top spot with 1709 points, with Salisbury and United States Merchant Marine following in second and third.
In the 100-yard freestyle, James Augustin (Massapequa, N.Y.) placed third with a time of 45.10 in the final. During preliminaries on Sunday morning, Augustin swam a time of 44.95, breaking the school record. This marks another new record for the freshman, having preciously broken the 50-yard freestyle and the 800-yard freestyle relay records this week at the NJAC Championship.
The Hawks team of Augustin, Evan Wysor (North Kingstown, R.I.), Dylan Gourlay (Mount Kisco, N.Y.), and James Guilmette (Johnson, R.I.) swam the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team finished fifth with a time of 3:06.35.
Wysor was in the pool again and led the Hawks in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:30.43, finishing just ahead of Alex Weisenbacher (Beacon Falls, Conn.).
In the 200-yard backstroke, Brady Foley (Ashland, Mass.) swam for a time of 2:00.25 to lead the Hawks.
Weisenbacher was back in the pool for the Hawks in the 200-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 2:05.27. He finished just ahead of Luke Austin (Essex Junction, Vt.), who posted a time of 2:06.85.
Thomas Brown (Katonah, N.Y.) swam for the Hawks in the 200-yard butterfly, leading the team and putting up a time of 1:56.36
The Hawks will await potential selections to the NCAA Championships, that are set to be announced on Monday, Mar. 2.
