ORLANDO, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team notched a close 5-4 win over Springfield College Monday afternoon in the team's first match during the spring break trip.
The Hawks won two of the doubles matches before taking three singles victories against the Pride. Samantha Curran (Cumberland, R.I.) played a role in two wins for the Hawks, taking out Vanessa Senecal 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 at #2 singles prior to her win at #1 doubles. She paired with Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.) to defeat Senecal and Sam Carney 8-6.
Alexandra Reilly (North Easton, Mass.) also earned a pair of wins for the Hawks, winning 7-5, 6-2 at #4 singles over Sydney Streimer. She also defeated Amy Buttarazzi and Ashley Duhaime 8-2 at #3 doubles with Alexandra Brown (Kennett, Mo.).
The Hawks take on UW-Lacrosse on Monday.
