Burns receives Honorable Mention at IHSA Nationals for Equestrian

RALEIGH, N.C.Lyndsey Burns (Newtown, Conn.) of the Roger Williams University Equestrian team received Honorable Mention honors at the 2012 IHSA National Championship this past weekend.

Burns totaled 67.00 points in the first phase of competition, placing her 28th overall among the 36-rider field. She fell just six points shy of earning 24th place and advancing to the second phase of competition to remain in the running for the championship.

Kels Bonham of Savannah College of Art and Design claimed the National Championship in the Cacchione Cup division with 170 points.

Burns made it to Nationals after winning the Cacchione Cup for Region 1 as the top Open Rider in the Region.

Burns enjoyed a solid season for the Hawks, having placed in the top-two in her classes throughout the entire season. She earned a total of eight first-place ribbons and four second-place ribbons.

The entire Athletic Department would like to congratulate Lyndsey on a successful season.
