Box Score 2 BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team remains undefeated at MIT Invitational with wins over Brandeis (25-13, 25-23, 25-8) and Wellesley (27-29, 25-23, 25-21, 19-25, 15-9). The Hawks improve to 12-0 overall and 8-0 in the region.
The Hawks were led by senior middle blocker and All-Tournament Team selection, Krystie Luczynski (Kensington, Conn.) and senior setter Alexa Armenti (Dix Hills, N.Y.). Armenti kept the Hawks offense well distributed with at least three attackers hitting over .250 in each match. Luczynski provided firepower at the center of the net with 40 kills on 82 attacks with only 5 errors for a .426 hitting percentage on the weekend. Luczynski was equal effective in the back court with 7 aces and chipped in 32 digs.
Junior opposite, Andrea Gorman (Wilbraham, Mass.) provided speed on the right collecting 24 kills with only 4 errors on 61 swings for a .327 hitting percentage on the weekend. Gorman added 16 digs and two aces in the back court.
Sophomore outside hitter Elizabeth Flaherty (Sloatsburg, N.Y.), gave the Hawks a strong presence on the left side of the court with 48 kills on 111 attempts with only 11 errors for .333 hitting percentage over the tournament. Flaherty hit over .300 in three of the four matches and gobbled up 57 digs and 6 aces.
Freshman duo of Kristen Boyer (Ephrata, Pa.) and Brittany McMullen (Lancaster, Pa.) rounded out the starters for the Hawks. McMullen continued to put up impressive numbers chipping 36 kills on 74 attempts with only 9 errors for a hitting percentage of .364. Boyer banged out 31 kills on 95 attempts for a kill efficiency of .326 and picked up 52 digs and 5 blocks.
Defensively the Hawks were led by freshman libero, Darian Tredennick (Houston, Texas) who dug 67 balls in 15 sets for an average of 4.46. Junior, Emily Werth picked up 19 balls in the right back position.
The Hawks return to action on Wednesday, September 18th at 7:00 p.m. in the Roger Williams Rec Center Gym to take on the Camels of Connecticut College in an annual non-conference match up.
