Crew has first race of the spring

PLYMOUTH, Mass. – After a very long winter, the Roger Williams University Crew team participated in its first regatta of the spring season at Great Herring Pond in Plymouth, Mass. on Saturday, April 12th.  The regatta was hosted by Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA).

RWU competed against Assumption, Brandeis, Bryant, Endicott, Franklin Pierce, and MMA. The team competed in the Women's Novice 4, the Women's Varsity 4, and the Men's Varsity 4 events.

Due to extreme cold and high winds, the team only had five water days of practice this spring. The novice team had three. Nonetheless, the novice performed admirably. The Women Varsity 4 set a new RWU Crew record.  For the novices, this was their longest row by rowing 2000 meters to the starting line, then turning and racing back.
