Crew Rows At Textile Regatta

This Sunday, the Roger Williams University Crew team participated in the Textile Regatta.

From Coach Ruocco:

"It was cold, overcast, damp, and at times rainy.  In other words, a typical fall rowing day. This event is long–the race course is 5800 meters but since we launch at the finish line, there is a 5800m row just to get to the start!  Basically it is 12000 meters of rowing.  For many of the rowers that represented about 11000 meters more than they had ever rowed in one sitting.  Even for our experienced rowers, this event marked three days of being on the water.  Though we planned for two 8's and two 4's we ended up with rowing three 4's (women novice and two men open).  For this event it was not about times, but about completing the long haul.  Each of our boats completed their race.

"We had several alumni come by our site.  It is great for our rowers to see past rowers.  Several of our alum have been coaching, so that is a nice way to have our program become known to others.  We had several parents come by as well. I tend to spend these events running around so if I missed you at the site, know your support is always appreciated.

"We are back on the water working on developing technique and timing.  I do not have many details, but we will likely have an event on the 29th of October. Thanks for all your support!"
