BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving team swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference Invitational for the tenth consecutive season.
The Women bested the field by over 200 points while the men earned a margin of victory of 91.5 points.
Hunter Olson (Framingham, Mass.) set two new meet records in the 100 Yard Backstroke and the 200 Yard Freestyle. He would take the top spot in the 100 Back in 54.32 and the 200 Free in 1:48.36, in addition to winning the 100 Yard Butterfly (53.42). He was also part of the winning 200 Yard Medley Relay with
Andrew Gillie,
Gabriel Pasqualucci, and
Paul Marchese, placing in 1:40.12.
Hunter Wronski finished in first in the 200 Yard IM, notching a time of 2:05.23. Pasqualucci earned a pair of runner-up results in the 50 Yard Freestyle (23.02) and the 100 Yard Freestyle (50.40).
The men also collected a win in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, with Pasqualucci, Christian Montanez (North Chili, N.Y.),
Eamon McKenney (Portsmouth, R.I.), and
Jeremy Penny (Torrington, Conn.) beating the field in 1:32.79.
On the women's side,
Meg Peters (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) also clinched a new meet record. Her mark of 1:01.59 in the 100 Yard Butterfly set the new meet standard while also taking first place in the event. She also placed second in the 500 Yard Freestyle in 5:38.60 and won the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay in 3:57.40 along with
Erin Callahan (Albany, N.Y.),
Allison Surian (Burlington, Conn.), and
Gabrielle Pielka (Mahwah, N.J.).
Shantelle Richards (Nashua, N.H.) earned three wins on the day for Roger Williams. She would claim first in the 100 Yard Freestyle (56.81), 200 Yard Freestyle (2:03.26), and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:43.72) with
Alyssa Bush (Adams, Mass.),
Hannah Nolte (Elmhurst, Ill.), and
Mackenzie Webber (Westbrook, Maine).
Webber picked up two more wins in the 50 Yard Freestyle (24.85) and 100 Yard Backstroke (1:03.75).
The Hawks also got individual wins from Nolte in the 200 Yard IM (2:21.18), Pielka in the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:33.13), and
Catherine Oppenheim (Sudbury, Mass.) in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:11.73).
