HAMPTON, Va. – The Roger Williams University Women's Swimming team sits eighth with 178 points after the second day of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship at the Hampton Aquaplex.
In the 400-yard medley relay, the Hawks finished sixth with a time of 4:01.94. The Hawks saw Avery Watson (Niskayuna, N.Y.) post a 1:00.38 in the opening backstroke, Mattia McIntyre (Norton, Mass.) went 1:08.90 in the breaststroke, Avery Benigni (Meriden, Conn.) put up a 59.31 finish in the butterfly, while Claire Dombrofski (West Hartford, Conn.) anchored with a 53.35 in the freestyle.
Benigni was back in the pool for the Hawks in the 50-yard freestyle final, finishing with a time of 24.85, ahead of Dombrofski who posted a 24.88 time.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Watson was the only Hawk to qualify for the finals, where she finished with a time of 5:25.26.
AvaGrace Zettler (Allendale, N.J.) swam for the Hawks in the 200-yard Individual Medley finals, posting a time of 2:15.09.
Roger Williams will continue competition in the pool on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the NJAC Championships.
