HAMPTON, Va. – The Roger Williams University Women's Swimming team concluded the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship on Sunday night, placing eighth with a total of 425 points. RWU placed ahead of Ramapo College and William Paterson.
Salisbury University took the top spot with 1635 points, with University of Mary and Washington and Rowan University following in second and third.
The Hawks sent the team of Shae Gonzales (Pottstown, Pa.), Avery Benigni (Meriden, Conn.), Claire Dombrofski (West Hartford, Conn.), and Isabel Tahlmore () to the pool for the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team finished seventh with a time of 3:39.98.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Mattia McIntyre (Norton, Mass.) took a ninth-place finish with a time of 2:27.91.
Another top ten finisher, Dombrofski placed tenth with a time of 53.66 in the 100-yard freestyle to lead the Hawks.
Kallie Fournier (Berkley, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Hawks in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:15.51.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Avery Watson (Niskayuna, N.Y.) led the Hawks and finished with a time of 2:11.70.
For the 1650-yard freestyle, the Hawks were led by Ella Rothberg (Fairfield, Conn.) who put up a time of 19:17.74. Rothberg finished just ahead of Natalie Herl (Rocklin, Cali.) and Lauren Clark (Trumbull, Conn.).
The Hawks will await potential selections to the NCAA Championships, that are set to be announced on Monday, Mar. 2.
