Molly Quilty (Duxbury, Mass.) kill to take the opening set.
The Hawks grabbed the first point of the second set on an attack error by the Leopards. They had a few points runs of their own but neither team was able to extend their lead.
With the score at 23-19 in favor the Hawks, RWU had trouble getting those last two points. Wentworth had three kills and took advantage of a
Maddie Neuberger (Remsenburg, N.Y.) attack error which tied it up at 23.
Katie Nugent's (Lynnfield,Mass.) kill put the Hawks up one and Neuberger's service ace ended the set.
The third set begun with the Hawks earning the first point on a kill by
Grace Kenningham (Houston, Texas) but her attack error on the next play gave Wentworth their first point. The Hawks kept the pressure on and drove the score to 11-4 before the Leopards could find some rhythm.
A kill, service ace and error by Quilty boosted the Leopards to seven points. The Hawks would remain in control, however, until they reached a score of 21. A seven-point run for the Leopards brought the score up to 21-18. The Hawks would find a last push to the 25
th point to take the set and match by a score of 25-19.
