Sailing Finishes Fourth At Atlantic Coast Championship

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team finished its fall portion of the season with a fourth-place finish at the Atlantic Coast Championship.

At the ACC, hosted by New York Maritime, the Hawks were in contention for the win for most of the weekend. RWU was tied for first after the opening race and remained within the top three for the first day of sailing. After Saturday, the Hawks were within a tie for third place.

On the second day of racing, the Hawks stayed with the top four throughout the day and was only five points out of the top spot entering the final race. However, RWU faltered at A and B Division in the last race, putting the Hawks in fourth overall.

Mackenzie Bryan (Christiansted, USVI) and Jennifer Agell (Huntington, N.Y.) finished in ninth place at A Division, while Martim Anderson (Lisbon, Portugal) and Rebecca Anderson (Northport, N.Y.) clinched the top spot at B Division. Bryan and Agell posted six races among the top nine with one win, while the Andersons collected three wins as part of their seven finishes in the top seven.
