BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team took part in four regattas this weekend, earning two 11
th and 18
th-place results.
At the Central Series, hosted by Boston College, the Hawks placed 11
th overall. At A Division, RWU posted a pair of seventh-place finishes in addition to an eight-place result. The Hawks' B Division boat logged a best showing of fourth finishes while placing eighth or better in five races. On the weekend, A Division took 13
th place overall while B Division finished seventh. Competing for RWU were
Dane Pedersen (Chanhassen, Minn.),
Alden Crowe (Summerland, Calif.), and
Rachel Holick (Lawrence, N.J.).
The Hawks also placed 11
th at the Hatch Brown Trophy, hosted by MIT. It was an abbreviated regatta with only three races sailed due to no wind on Saturday and light wind on Sunday.
Mackenzie Bryan (Christiansted, USVI) and
Jennifer Agell (Huntington, N.Y.) finished 12
th for Roger Williams at A Division, placing fifth, 13
th, and 17
th.
Martim Anderson (Lisbon, Portugal), and
Rebecca Anderson (Northport, N.Y.) won at B Division, posting a win and a pair of third-place results.
Edward Lebens (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and
Megan Roach (Newport Beach, Calif.) took 18
th place at C Division after 17
th-place showings and a 14
th.
At the Nevins Trophy, hosted by Kings Point, RWU took 18
th place.
Preston Duclos (Wesport, Mass.) and
Kylie Freitas (Escondido, Calif.) competed at A Division for the Hawks, placing 18
th. Their best finish of the weekend was seventh place with three races left.
Daniel Petrovic (Tortola, BVI) and
Tyler Killion (Dallas, Texas) were 16
th at B Division, with three races in the top ten.
Peter Neal (Manhattan Beach Calif.) grabbed 11
th place at C Division, logging a pair of runner-up finishes as part of his four races in the top seven.
At the Stuart Nelson Trophy, hosted by Connecticut College, Roger Williams finished 18
th as well.
Janel DeCurtis (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and
Ariana Smaldone (Tiverton, R.I.) combined to finish 17
th at A Division with two tenth-place results among the seven races.
Emily Gildea (PalosPark, Ill.) and
Kristi Dolan placed 18
th at B Division with their best race a 14
th-place showing in the opening race.
