KINGSTON, R.I. – For the second consecutive season, the Roger Williams University Men's Swimming & Diving team claimed the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championship.
The Hawks put on a dominating performance over the course of the four days of competition, besting the field by over 300 points.
Eamon McKenney (Portsmouth, R.I.), Hunter Wronski (Shelton, Conn.), Hunter Olson (Framingham, Mass.), and
Gabriel Pasqualucci (Southbury, Conn.) took first in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with their time of 1:33.62, setting a new school record.
Wronski would also pick up a first place result in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, beating the field by 15 seconds with his time of 16:15.78 and setting a new school record by ten seconds.
McKenney earned the win at the 50 Yard Backstroke, posting a finish of 23.78 and setting not only a new school record but also a new NEISDA Championship record in the process. He also took the top spot in the 100 Yard Backstroke in 52.03.
Pasqualucci took first in the 50 Yard Butterfly in 23.38 while Josh Seabrook (West Haven, Conn.) logged a pair of runner-up finishes in the 1-Meter Dive (361.15) and the 3-Meter Dive (360.50).
In the 100 Yard IM, Olson posted a time of 53.93, then later teamed with Pasqualucci,
Paul Marchese (Monroe, Conn.), and Christian Montañez (North Chili, N.Y.) to close out the championships with 3:08.99 win in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.
Highlighting the NEISDA awards were
Andrew Gillie (Danvers, Mass.) as the Male Senior Co-High Point Swimmer of the Meet and Pasqualucci as the Male Co-Swimmer of the Meet.
