Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team was handed a 2-7 loss Monday afternoon by Springfield College.
Morgan Crimmins (Boston, Mass.) and Riley Spillane (Easton, Mass.) picked up the lone victory over Springfield in doubles play, earning a 9-8 (7-2) win over Rachel Ahlmeyer and Rachel Litchfield at #3. At #1, Emily Etter and Cara Freadman took an 8-2 decision over Jessica Magliato (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Allie Grinavic (North Attleboro, Mass.). Taryn Roche (Greenlawn, N.Y.) and Heidi Martin (Scituate, Mass.) fell 8-2 to Melissa Parrish and Addie Kendall at #2.
Magliato avenged her doubles loss to Kendall in singles play, cruising to a 6-0, 6-1 win at the #4 flight. She would be the only Hawk to win her singles match. Freadman collected a 6-3, 6-1 win against Roche at #1 and Etter downed Grinavic 6-1, 6-1 at #2. Parrish took a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Martin at #5 and Ahlmeyer escaped with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Dana Englander (North Haledon, N.J.).
Spillane almost came away with the win at #3 over Litchfield. After falling behind 2-6, she came back with a 6-2 win of her own to force a super breaker. Unfortunately, Litchfield took the breaker 10-8.
Roger Williams (12-5) will face Scranton in their last match of the trip.
