WILLIMANTIC, CONN. – The Roger Williams Women's Swimming & Diving team beat both Eastern Connecticut State University and Babson College Saturday afternoon, defeating ECSU 173-87 and Babson 166-92.
 
In today's meet, Ellie Field (Adams, Mass.) had an impressive day with two first place wins. Field came in first in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:03.96. She also came in first in the 50 Yard Freestyle recording a time of 25.79. In the 100 Yard Freestyle, Field placed fourth with a time of 57.54.
 
In the 400 Yard Medley Relay, Field and her teammates Allison Surian (Burlington, Conn.), Kenzie Sweeney (Groton, Mass.), and Casey Klein (Newton, Conn.) earned third place with a time of 4:19.56. The Hawks also claimed fourth in the 400 Yard Medley Relay event with the help of Callie Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.), Catherine Oppenheim (Sudbury, Mass.), Bharathi Kolluru (Berwyn, Pa.), and Emily Slusarczyk (Charlestown, R.I.) who recorded the time of 4:21.14.
 
The Hawks grabbed another first place win by Allegra Iacovino (Chester Springs, Pa.) in the 1000 Yard Freestyle who swam at an impressive pace to get 11:43.27. Fiona Joyce (Fairfield, Conn.) followed closely at 11:47.80, stealing second place.
 
Sullivan earned second place in the 50 Yard Backstroke at 29.77 and Surian earned third in the 200 Yard Freestyle at 2:04.91.
 
RWU took all three top spots in the 50 Yard Breaststroke with Oppenheim coming in first at 32.36, Sweeney at 32.60 in second, and Kaley Youngcourt (Monroe, Conn.) at 33.62 in third.
 
Meg Peters (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) took second in the 100 Yard Butterfly at 1:02.66 and third in the 100 Yard Freestyle at 56.89. In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Iacovino claimed third at 26.52.
 
In the 100 Yard Backstroke, Surian took first place 1:03.62. Sullivan took third at 1:04.32. Sweeney took first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke at 1:11.80 and Oppenheim took second at 1:12.32.
 
The Hawks also took second and third in in the 500 Yard Freestyle with Joyce at 5:43.70 and Iacovino at 5:46.50. In the 50 Yard Butterfly, Kolluru took second at 29.64 and Klein took third at 29.98. Youngcourt grabbed third for the Hawks in the 200 Yard IM at 2:23.39.
 
The Hawks finished the day with a second and third place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.
 
Following the win, Head Coach Matt Emmert stated, "This was a great team performance!  We had some extremely strong swims on the women's side, it's nice to see them reap the rewards of the past weeks of training.

The Hawks will head to WPI next Saturday morning for the WPI Sprint Invitational at 9 a.m. in Worcester, Massachusetts.
